Introduction
Hi, my name is Nikita!
I’m a young adult living with a rare genetic condition. However, I don’t let that stop me from pursuing my goals. I’m really active in my community and I participate in things such as Epic Days, Life Rolls On, a Neighborhood Watch Program, Kids Enjoy Exercise Now, Special Academy for Special Dreams, APIDC (Asians and Pacific Islanders with Disabilities of California), SCDD (State Council on Developmental Disabilities), etc. I was in my high school cheer team as well. I currently go to ELAC (East Los Angeles College) working on my psychology degree. I would like to be a psychologist in the future and help those who are struggling mentally and emotionally. I receive services from Bleu Physical Therapy and I have been going there for quite a while now. I definitely have improved physically and would like to get to a point where I can take a few steps with a walker. However, I know it takes time and a lot of determination. I know I could do it one day. I like to do a lot of physical activities, like swimming. I have an adaptive tricycle that I try to ride almost everyday. I love expressing myself through art, writing, journaling, and etc. I feel that a part of my life, I need help with my daily living tasks and it’s honestly very difficult. I feel very exposed. That’s my life right now. I believe that it will get better. I also believe that the combination approach (more than one method of treatment) really can benefit anybody.
